Buenos Aires province Governor Daniel Scioli called for “taking care of our achievements and join efforts to work for the growth of the province and the country” and asked for “collaboration and effort” of teacher unions “to guarantee the normal development of the school year,” in his speech during the opening of 2012’s Legislature sessions.
“Let us take care of our achievements and join efforts to work for the growth our province and our country. I’m saying this from my Peronist identity, but with absolute respect of all political parties and opinions,” Scioli said, alongside Vice-governor Gabriel Mariotto.
“We have the responsibility of taking care all of the achievements gained in the last eight years, particularly jobs. Jobs creates dignity and speculation, indignant people, and that is why reached the job figures in the last 30 years and the lowest poverty rate since the return of democracy in 1983,” Scioli
The former vice-president also referred to teacher unions, and requested they make an effort and cooperate in order to guarantee that the school year can run its normal course. If there is one aspect this political project has made a priority that is public education,” he continued.
“We have allotted 6.4 percent of the GDP to education and that is our strongest bet. Alongside the national Government we have systematically improved teacher salaries,” he said, and highlighted the education financing law, the national education law, the technical-professional education law and the Conectar Igualdad netbook programmes, «among the biggest achievements in education.
