A group of residents from the Villa 31 slum were protesting this morning, causing slight traffic delays.
A group of residents from the Villa 31 slum were blocking off one of the entrances to the main bus terminal in the city neighbourhood of Retiro, local police officials informed.
According to officials, the residents were protesting in order for police to clarify a crime that saw the murder of a young woman from the slum in mid-January.
Others stated that the roadblock was put in place due to a power outage inside the slum, with some of the protesters threatening to cut off the road again if the service was not re-instated.
The roadblock was put in place along Antártida Argentina Avenue, just after 6 am this morning by a group of approximately ten people who were sat in the middle of the road, consequently stopping traffic flow through the area.
By 11 am the police had controlled the situation and the protesters were cleared out of the area, letting traffic flow normally through the area.
Sources from coach companies at the central bus station said that although there were slight delays in the service this morning, the situation was normalized by mid-morning with departures leaving on time.
