NEW YORK (Reuters) – Stocks extended declines and the S&P 500 was at session lows on Thursday afternoon as a fall in oil and other commodity prices and strength in the dollar weighed on shares.
The Dow Jones industrial average (.DJI) dipped 24.45 points, or 0.22 percent, at 11,083.52. The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index (.SPX) was down 5.02 points, or 0.43 percent, at 1,173.15. The Nasdaq Composite Index (.IXIC) dropped 16.65 points, or 0.68 percent, at 2,440.74.
