Maxima Zorreguieta and Dutch Crown prince Willem-Alexander smile during their civil marriage
Argentine native Maxima and Dutch Crown Prince Willem-Alexander celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary today. According to Dutch radio RNW, Princess Máxima has become the most popular member of the Dutch royal family.
The Dutch television channel announced today it will air the couple’s most memorable moments today.
The couple met in 1999 in Sevilla, Spain during the Feria de Abril de Sevilla. Following the announcement of their engagement on March 30th, 2001, theMaxima and Willem exchanged wedding vows on February 2nd, 2002
The civil ceremony took place at the Beurs van Berlage, conducted by the Mayor of Amsterdam. Maxima´s wedding was marked by the absence of her parents. The princess is the daughter of a former Argentine dictatorship State Secretary.
The royal couple had three daughters and it was untainted by royal scandals until they decided to build a vacation villa in Mozambique, at the beginning of the world’s economic crisis, causing criticism amongst the Dutch people.
