Córdoba city under ‘state of alert’ due to thunderstorm, floods

Córdoba City Mayor Ramón Mestre declared today the “state of alert” for the next three days in the capital city of Córdoba due to the serious damage caused by yesterday’s thunderstorms and floods that killed two people and left several injured.

Mestre over flew the City on a helicopter this morning to get a better picture of the natural disaster and concluded “there are certain areas that seem like if they were hit by a hurricane.”

Likewise, the Mayor told reporters that Southern neighbourhoods like Villa Rivadavia, Villa Angelelli, 23 de Abril, and Villa El Libertador were the most affected.

To end, Mestre asked the population to have “patience” until all public services can be reconnected or resumed. He also recommended people to stay at home as streets are full of fallen trees as well some overhead power line cables.
