Couple found dead in Palermo

A man and his girlfriend were found dead in their Palermo apartment by Police officials on Sunday morning. Investigators are considering several scenarios, including a possible murder-suicide case.
The bodies show signs of bruises, cuts and asphyxiation.
The bodies were discovered on Sunday morning in an apartment building located on Bulnes at 1800, were the 50-year old man lived with the 25-year old woman.
According to police sources, the woman’s father contacted the police after unsuccessfully trying to contact her for three days. When the Police approached the apartment and was unable to obtain a response from the couple, they filed for a court order and broke into the property.
Once inside, Police officials found traces of blood and both bodies on the floor. The door was locked from the inside and the door showed no signs of having been broken into.
Forensic officials are still analyzing the crime scene, but preliminary reports said that the woman’s body showed signs of violence and asphyxiation. They also determined that the man had been beaten in the head and showed scratches all over his body.
Investigators ruled out the presence of a third person on the crime scene, for which everything points to a possible murder-suicide case.
Neighbours assured that the couple could be heard fighting regularly, and that the man was undergoing psychiatric treatment after trying to commit suicide twice.
