Justice and Provincial Minister Javier Touriñan confirmed that the wildfire that began on Tuesday at the Puerto Patriada provincial forest park, has already affected 2,000 hectares of native vegetation.
“Despite of the enormous effort of the volunteers to control the fire, it is gaining ground and we have estimated that is already affecting 2,000 hectares,” the provincial official stated.
Touriñan praised the volunteers work that “have as a priority the integrity of the citizens, and they have achieve it so far because no victims were reported.”
“Unfortunately temperatures over 30 degrees (Celsius) have made putting out the fire a highly difficult job,” he explained.
