Argentine Stocks: Boldt SA And YPF SA Advance; Metrogas Retreats

The following companies had unusual price changes in Argentine trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and share prices are as of the close in Buenos Aires.

The Merval (MERVAL) Index fell 0.4 percent to 2,457.37.

Boldt SA (BOLT) advanced 3.8 percent to 3.82 pesos. The Argentine software developer and IT services company has gained 8.5 percent since it reported Dec. 23 the sale of a 10 percent stake in a local casino.

Metrogas SA (METR) , the Argentine natural gas distribution company, fell 9.8 percent to 0.812 pesos, the steepest decline since November 2009. YPF SA (YPFD), Argentina’s largest energy company, said Dec. 23 it won’t exercise an option to buy shares of Gas Argentino SA and Metroenergia SA from BG Group Plc. Gas Argentino owns 70 percent of Metrogas, according to the company’s website.

YPF (YPFD AF) rose 1.2 percent to 166 pesos, its third day of gains.
