Roland Garros champion in 2004 and retired from the professional tournaments since August 2010, Gastón Gaudio played his farewell game at the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club.
“I’m happy to be here. I’ve dreamed this day with a stadium full of people,” Gaudio said after defeated his friend Mariano Zabaleta by 7-6 (9-7 in the tie break).
More than 5,000 people cheered during the last day of a tournament one of the four Argentines who won a Grand Slam, along with Guillermo Vilas, Gabriela Sabatini and Juan Martín del Potro.
