As the struggle between the Kirchnerites and Vice-President Cobos continues, senator and provisional head of the Senate, Beatríz Rojkés once again assured she would be ‘delighted’ to be the one who swears President Fernández de Kirchner in next Saturday. She also questioned certain aspects of Cobos’ role while in office.
“He is not a ridiculous person at all,” she said in response to much of the criticism he has received in the last few days.
“He has just been at the wrong place, at the wrong time,” she considered.
“He fell short of expectations after he failed to support the party he had been elected to represent,” she explained, although she later warned that he is “an honourable person.”
While referring to the controversial grain exports tax, which failed to pass in the Senate after Vice-President Cobos voted against it, she assured that it took place “in a very difficult moment for the country,” and even though he had picked as Fernández de Kirchner’s running mate, “he wasn’t a part of this political project and he acted as such.”
Rojkés then stated she would be “delighted” to be the one who swears the President in next December 10th when she begins her second term, but explained that “it was up to the President and Cobos” to decide.
“The rules say it should be Cobos,” she concluded.
