Gov’t extends current Budget to $38.5B

The national government extended the budget resources to more than 38.508 billion pesos by a DNU emergency decree and a DA Administrative Decision.

The DNU 1764/2011 signed by President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner and published on Friday gives funds of 29.332 billion pesos to the National Public Administration.

The DA 1144/2011 signed by Cabinet Chief Aníbal Fernández and published on the same day adds 9.175 billion pesos to the 2011 expenditures, planned in the extension of the 2010 Budget.

The decree mentions the “urgency” to “modify the credits to take into account expenditures that were not included in the current Budget, mainly, those that are a result of the salarial policy for the staff of the National Executive Branch, National Legislative Branch, National Judicial Branch and Public Ministry.”

It also stated that “the raise will be financed by resources of the National Treasury, with own resources and those of specific affection and financial sources of the Jurisdiction of the National Administration.”

Sources said that most of the extra funds will be destined to pay the wage hike agreed along 2011, subsidies and complementary bonuses. In December 2010, the injection reached 37.816 billion pesos and was also made by decree.

Taking into account both decisions (DNU and DA), the Legislative Branch will receive 434.8 million pesos; Judicial 410.5 million; Presidence 226.6 million; Cabinet Leadership 234.5 million; Interior Ministry 91 million; Foreign Ministry 92.5 million; Security Ministry 1.896 billion; Defense Ministry 1.867 billion; Planning Ministry 4.431 billion; Education Ministry 3.900 billion; Labour Ministry 17.036 billion; Social Development Ministry 3.495 billion, among others.
