Building site closed in San Telmo on fears of collapse

City government officials closed down a building site today in the neighbourhood of San Telmo, after a neighbour reported that the construction work taking place had damaged an adjoining wall linking the buildings, bringing forth fears of a possible collapse.
The neighbour reported to authorities that the work being done had affected their premises, where later the construction being built along Juan de Garay at 263 was brought to a halt by officials.
It was reported that a digger had “hit a dividing wall causing cracks, and leaving perforations along neighbouring walls,” informed the director of the Government Control Agency, Javier Ibañez.
“We brought the construction work to a halt because the supervisor wasn’t there to direct the operation,” stated Ibañez before the press, further explaining that the large digger had been moving piles of earth.
The measures were taken just eight days after a building along Mitre 1232, in the neighbourhood of San Nicolás collapsed, killing a man, causing considerable damages to people’s homes and affecting various neighbouring buildings along the same street.
Meanwhile later today it was reported that a floor collapsed in a restaurant today in the neighbourhood of San Telmo this afternoon, causing a person to be injured.
The floor between the ground floor and first floor of the Debún Bar restaurant facing Plaza Dorrego came crashing down today.
Due to the incident, one person was injured, police at the scene reported. Two teams of fireman were working in the area to ensure no further injuries or accidents, and to maintain a stance on the state of the building.
