President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner blasted UATRE farm hands union protesters who set a roadblock in the Ricchieri highway today. «That wasn’t social protest, but a ridiculous ploy,» she said, before boarding the Tango 01 presidential plane en route to France, where she’s due to attend the G20 Summit.
Earlier, Fenrández de Kirchner urged citizens “not to protest on the streets, but to do so on sidewalks and squares,” while inaugurating new infrastructure of the Churruca hospital via video conference from the Government House.
“I say something that angered me today. That roadblock on the Richieri highway, led by UATRE farm hands union, had to be controlled by over a hundred of highly specialized agents. It’s almost a crime to remove agents that are looking after other people,” Fernández de Kirchner stated.
“We won’t criminalize social protests, but what happened today wasn’t a social protest but a ridiculous ploy by people wanting to be detrimental on fellow citizens,” she added.
Although her itinerary was not officially published yet, the head of state traveled with her daughter Florencia, on board the private presidential aircraft, Tango 01, which left 8 pm from the military sector of the Metropolitan airport.
On Thursday Fernández de Kirchner will attend the opening of the G20, made up by South Africa, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, South Korea, United States of America, France, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, United Kingdom, Russia, Turkey and the European Union.
Foreign Minister Héctor Timerman, left for Cannes last night to prepare for the summit. Economy Minister and recently elected vice-president, Amado Boudou will also attend the meeting on behalf of Argentina, and is to travel to France later today.
