CFK urges City Gov’t to help clean polluted Riachuelo

President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner urged City Mayor Mauricio Macri to join the National Government in its efforts to clean up the Riachuelo, the country’s most polluted river.

“We ask those on the other side of the Riachuelo to make the same efforts we’re making, because Argentina belongs to all of us. We ask for those who have more to help us clean the river. I know there are generous souls over there that will help us,” she stated.

In her first public appeareance since her reelection victory, Fernández de Kirchner assured that the National, Provincial and area municipalities are helping with the cleaning process, and even suggested that «it should be renamed” once it is definitely clean.

She then addressed last Sunday’s presidential elections and thanked the voters for supporting her, adding that they showed that “this is the path to take,” and then «vowed to keep working to recover the time that Argentina lost.”

“This is the path we will continue to take. Every day people are moved to keep working precisely by their decisiveness, love and for those things we still need to complete,” she concluded.
