Argentine Stock Movers: Banco Hipotecario, Molinos, Pampa

The following companies had unusual price changes in Argentine trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and share prices are as of 5 p.m. Buenos Aires time.

The Merval Index rose 2.3 percent to 2,861.82.

Banks and consumer companies rose after President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner vowed to maintain policies that fueled a consumption boom in her new term.

Banco Hipotecario SA (BHIP AF) jumped 4.2 percent to 1.99 pesos.

Molinos Rio de la Plata SA (MOLI AF), which produces and sells food for domestic consumption and export, climbed 4.5 percent to 30.40 pesos.

Pampa Energia SA (PAMP AF), Argentina’s largest energy holding company, rose 3.3 percent to 2.50 pesos. Argentina will raise energy tariffs as slower global growth curbs demand for the nation’s commodity and industrial exports, according to a BCP Securities Inc. report published today.
