While pinpointing exactly who was responsible for setting the Sarmiento trains alight in May remained a little uncertain, Cabinet Chief Aníbal Fernández, earlier maintained that once the Judiciary finds those responsible for setting the trains on fire, they should be “severely punished.”
“Nobody can just claim their right to set fire to a set of trains. The incident, which took place on May 2, cost 45 million pesos in damages, adding to a similar incident back in 2008 which cost around the same amount,” assured the Cabinet Chief during an interview.
Last week, following confusion and lack of concrete evidence, San Martín Federal Judge Manuel Yalj decided to remove the Federal Police from the investigation after mentioning several “errors” in the investigation.
