Drivers of the 60 bus line lifted the strike they held for two hours after the granddaughter of one of the company’s union delegates was assaulted and received death threats.
Delegate Daniel Farella said that his 15 year old granddaughter, who lives in the Greater Buenos Aires area of Isidro Casanova, was muzzled and received death threats by five men.
“Evidently, they were looking for me, but I wasn’t home at the time. That is the reason we strike, we won’t wait until a fellow employee is killed to implement some measures,” Farella said.
“My granddaughter was muzzled and tied to her bed. They threatened to cut her body and told her that when I returned home they were going to kill me. These men also showed her my labour pocketbook and told her that I should stop making labour claims.”
The 60 bus line connects the City with the greater Buenos Aires district of Tigre and is used by 300 thousand passengers on a daily basis.
