Solá officially leaves Federal Peronism bloc

Lawmaker Felipe Solá officially left the Lower House Federal Peronism bloc and explained his reasons in a meeting with fellow lawmakers. He stressed that he is not returning to Kircherism, but that Federal Peronism «moved in a direction that answered to its own interests.»

Solá officially abandoned the Federal Peronism bloc of the Lower House of Congress after a meeting with some fellow lawmakers. Sources stated he met with peers Raúl Rivara, Roberto Moulleron and lawmakers Gustavo Ferrari, Lorena Rossi and Celia Arena, among others.

Nonetheless, an important number of members of the bloc didn’t take part of the meeting, including Eduardo Amadeo, gubernatorial candidate of the list headed by presidential hopeful Eduardo Duhalde.

“I ratified my decision of leaving the opposition and I presented my resignation to the posts I held within the bloc,” Solá said after the meeting was over.

“I´m not drawing ties with the Government. We have been requesting the Government not to be intransigent for a long time and thus we became intransigent ourselves. And now the people have understood that Government is no longer intransigent, “Solá added.

“While the people were going one way, we were moving in directions that only answered to our own interests,” the lawmaker explained.

“Some of the lawmakers had already listened to my reasons and others had more hostile attitudes because we are in the thick of an electoral campaign. It was a meeting with seven lawmakers, some represented others that didn’t make it. The bloc will continue in the way its members decide. My post will we defined by them. If some of my colleagues didn’t come because they were taken by surprise, I apologize,“ Sola added.

Likewise, the former Buenos Aires province governor minimized the opposition’s criticisms and refused to answer back. “My stance is to leave Federal Peronism. We will wait until October 23rd in order not to interfere with any campaign. I never said I had regrets,” Sola concluded.

Lawmaker Graciela Ocaña commented on fellow lawmaker Felipe Sola’s official departure from the Lower House’s Federal Peronism bloc and deemed that the former governor ‘acted in anticipation of the diaspora» that will befall the caucus after the October presidential elections.
