Mothers of Plaza de Mayo former financial manager Sergio Schoklender was questioned for more than two hours by opposition lawmaker, where he presented documents over the denouncement made during this week. By the end of the encounter, Radical Party lawmakers asked to summon the head of the Foundation, Hebe de Bonafini.
Sources said that Schoklender told opposition lawmakers that an “official of the SIDE Secretary of Intelligence” told him to “stop talking” about the charges made over the use of the Foundation’s funds to finance the Kirchnerite campaign.
According to the opposition lawmakers that were part of the encounter with Schoklender at Congress, SIDE officials had called the ex financial manager on behalf of Cabinet Chief Aníbal Fernández to tell him to stay calm, that the investigation was not going to be investigated until the October 23 election.
“The SIDE is working in the investigation in order to keep it calm before the elections,” lawmaker Graciela Camaño said during a press conference after the meeting over the money laundering and embezzlement charges against Schoklender for mismanagement of funds granted to the ‘Sueños Compartidos’ social housing programme.
Mothers of Plaza de Mayo former financial manager attended Congress after being summoned by opposition deputies of the Constitutional Affairs, and Housing committees.
The lawmakers of the main opposition blocs attended to the encounter, but the members of the pro-government Frente para la Victoria were not part of it.
According to the Radical Party’s lawmaker Ricardo Gil Lavedra, Schoklender presented copies of contracts and property titles. Besides, he also handed documents to the lawmakers that have already been delivered to Federal Judge Norberto Oyarbide, where it states that the pre-campaigns of Amado Boudou and Abel Fatala were allegedly financed with funds of the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo.
After the questioning, the lawmakers said they will summon Hebe de Bonafini in order to present her explanations over the case.
“We are going to invite the head of the foundations to testify at Congress,” the head of the committee, Hipólito Faustinelli, said during a press conference.
