Alfonsín gets medical leave after severe bronchitis

Presidential contender Ricardo Alfonsín, son of late President Raúl Alfonsín, was given with the medical leave after being admitted yesterday at the BAzterrica Clinic with a severe bronchitis as a result of not having fully recovered from a previous pneumonia.

Alfonsín walked toward the many reporters awaiting for him and thanked everybody «for the concerns demonstrated within the past 24 hours.»

Asked about his medical condition, the presidential hopeful said to feel much better, though he was ordered by doctors to rest until Thursday.

«I’ll stay at home until Thursday, and will resume my campaing activities by the weekend with a visit to Tucumán province.»

Firstly, Alfonsín’s spokesman, Pablo Galeano, said that the Radical Party’s member had decided to take advantage of a long weekend to run routine tests and treat a persistent flu.
Alfonsín was the third runner-up on last weekends’ primaries with 12,17 percent of the valid ballots.
