Mayor Mauricio Macri’s campaign advisor Jaime Durán Barba considered that President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner “must have done something right” to get so many votes in last Sunday’s primary elections, and assured that the Alfonsín-De Narváez alliance “is the one that lost most votes.”
“Many say Cristina won because the opposition was wrong. To me it’s not like that. To me her administration must have done something right to have a 50 percent of the population vote for her,” the Ecuadorean said.
The publicist compared Fernández de Kirchner’s victory to the one the PRO party celebrated last July 31st. “Macri’s campaign was similar to Cristina’s,” he explained.
“Many times silence is more relevant than music,” he said, adding that people “vote for whatever they feel is convenient for them.”
However, Durán Barba criticised the opposition and targeted the Alfonsín-De Narváez Alliance specifically, who were running for the presidential nomination and the Buenos Aires governance respectively.
“The Alfonsín-De narváez alliance is the one that lost most votes,” adding that “Alfonsín’s and Duhalde’s performances were modest and poor.”
He also questioned the Civic Coalition presidential candidate Elisa Carrió, who came in sixth place after obtaining a 3 percent of the votes. “Her problem is that she lost her credibility after making so many accusations,” he assured.
On another note, regarding candidate Hermes Binner, he said that “he did great things for this province,” but “he can’t go much further than that in an election.”
