US dollar higher, ‘blue’ up one cent at 14.90 pesos

The US dollar was half a cent higher today in banks and foreign exchange agencies, closing at 9.21 pesos.

Meanwhile, the so called «blue» dollar increased one cent at 14.90 pesos in underground trading houses, according toámbito.com.

Yesterday, the «blue» dropped five cents, dragged down by growing demand in the dollar for savings scheme, which hit a new record high of 113 million dollar, a 30 percent increase compared to the one registered during the first working day of the previous month.

The gap between the official rate and the «blue» stands at 61.8%.

In addition today, the blue chip swap rate was down five cents to 13.40 pesos and the stock exchange rate decreased nine cents to 13.19 pesos.

The Central Bank sold 100 million dollars, following the 90 million sold yesterday. Its reserves stand at 33.880 billion dollars.
