Business and union leaders have agreed to raise the minimum wage by a total of 28.5 percent, in two instalments, which would lift the benchmark to 6060 pesos.
According to business sources, the summit held today by the Salary Council in the Labour Ministry came to an agreement to increase the minimum, currently at 4716 pesos, after a day of negotiations. The first instalment of 18.5 percent will come into effect from August, with the remaining 10 percent added in January.
