“Yesterday we had to win and the result is that we won,” Mayor-elected Horacio Rodríguez Larreta told reporters today after winning the Buenos Aires city runoff yesterday with a tight vote margin.
He played down having lost in 9 of 15 communes, saying “it wasn’t a commune election. When we held elections in the communes, we won in all of them,” he added.
«We are very happy with the difference because it shows we won and we can work for four more years. It’s a great goal,” Larreta said about an election which was PRO’S worst performance since the party rules the city.
He praised the attitude of ECO’s Martín Lousteau, his rival in the election, who called him and greeted him “affectionately.”
