INDEC: June’s inflation at 1%

The National Statistics and Census Institute (INDEC) has revealed an inflation rate of 1 percent for June 2015 compared to the previous month, with prices in the current calendar year rising a total of 6.7 percent.

According to the agency’s National Urban Consumer’s Price Index, inflation over the past 12 months has risen by 15 percent.

The figure is once more below that claimed by the opposition in its IPC-Congress index. The statistics drawn up by private consultants asserted an inflation rate of 1.53 percent for June, with annual inflation at 27.9% – almost double the INDEC estimation.

In June, a rise in cigarette prices of 10% skewed figures in the ‘Other goods and services’ category, which climbed 3.2%. ‘Leisure’ was also among the highest-risers, with a growth of 1.7% pushed by raises in tourism and long-distance transport prices.

Food and drink rates, meanwhile, increased under the overall average with a growth of 0.5%.
