The US dollar ended half a cent up today at 9.115 pesos in banks and foreign exchange agencies in the city’s financial district.
This was the eight consecutive increase for the US dollar, which jumped two cents and a half during the week.
The Central Bank did not intervene the market today, amid a banking holiday in the US. Yesterday, it had bought 40 million dollars.
Meanwhile, the «blue» dollar dropped seven cents to close at 13.48 pesos in underground houses, amid fear of new controls by the government, according to ámbito.com. Nevertheless, the paralell dollar ended the week with a 20-cent hike. The gap bewteen the «blue» and the official rate stands at 47.9 percent.
The AFIP tax bureau has authoriced the purchase of over 162 million dollars through the dollar-for-savings scheme during these first days of June.
