Economy minister Axel Kicillof has hit out against an alleged campaign «to instil fear in people’s minds» as the reason behind heavy increases in the parallel ‘blue’ dollar, while assuring that the government would be able to pay Boden 2015 bonds.
«They are looking to instil fear amongst people,» the minister stated during in a television interview today, after the illegal currency rose 50 cents in the last two trading days.
«Some are annoyed by economic stablility and that the reserves are ok,» he added, while accusing unnamed actors of «operations» to force a rise in the dollar.
Kicillof pointed out the climate at the end of 2014: «They were sending people out to buy dollars saying that the reserves were at 16 billion, devaluation and all types of disaster were coming, and they ended up hurting the people.
«It worries me that people are fooled and they have started to speculate that the government cannot pay the next services on the Boden 2015, but the truth is that since there is economic stability that is what worries them.»
The politician insisted there was «no doubt» over the next payment, pointing to the improved health of the Central Bank reserves.
