After receiving a special award by the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization for Argentina’s fight against hunger and poverty, President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner today held a meeting with her Italian counterpart, Sergio Mattarella, at the Quirinale Palace, and later they both shared a lunch at the Belvedere Dell Torrino Hall.
It was the president’s last commitment before heading back to Argentina after a three-day official visit to Rome which included a meeting with Pope Francis yesterday.
The president was joined today by Foreign Affairs Minister Héctor Timerman; Agriculture Minister Carlos Casamiquela; the Public Communications Secretary Alfredo Scoccimarro; the head of Banco Nación Juan Ignacio Forlón; and the Argentine Ambassador to the Vatican Eduardo Valdés.
