Judge Horacio Piombo, one of the magistrates who controversially lowered the sentence of a rapist convicted of assaulting a six-year-old, today quit his post as a magistrate after rejecting last week resignation reports.
He had already resigned from his position at the University of La Plata.
A Change.org petition demanding Piombo and fellow judge Sal Llargués be impeached and removed from their positions has gathered over 185,000 signatures online.
