UTA complies with mandatory conciliation, suspends strike

The UTA transport union has accepted the mandatory conciliation ordered by the Labor Ministry, in the conflict between the workers organization and business representatives over salary increases.

This way, UTA has suspended the 24-hour strike announced for tomorrow that would have affected long and short distance bus services.

The mandatory conciliation was issued by the ministry after midday, in an attempt to stop the walkout announced by UTA.

The meassure was revealed by UTA’s head Roberto Fernández earlier today, following failed wage talks with business delegates. The strike was to start at 12 pm today.

UTA had preaviously announced a national strike for June 9 which still stands.
