Obama: ‘We are not losing against IS’

US president Barack Obama ruled out today the possibility of losing the battle against Islamic State (IS).
“I don’t think we are losing against ex ISIS,” the head of state asserted after jihadists’ critics on the taking over of Ramadi city.
Obama made these statements in an interview he gave to The Atlantic magazine, published on Tuesday.
According to the US leader, in northern Iraq, where the kurdish fighters are, “significative progress” has been made against IS.
On the other hand, Ramadi’s vulnerability lies on the fact that in that area there are no Iraqi security troops that have been trained or strengthened.
Obama also stated the US “cannot do in Iraq what the Iraqi people should be doing themselves.” With this, the president ruled out any chance of sending American troops to that country.
“One of the lessons I’ve learned is that if Iraqis are not capable of reaching the neccesary agreement to rule and to fight for the security of their own nation, then we cannot do it for them,” he fired.
