Urribarri drops out of FpV presidential race

Entre Ríos governor Sergio Urribarri has confirmed his decision to withdraw from the race to become the Victory Front’s (FpV) candidate for president, while praising the administration of incumbent Cristina Fernández de Kirchner and underlining his commitment to the party.

«The Argentine people and those from Entre Ríos know my recognition of the political management of the President, I have clearly interpreted her message and through this medium I am revealing the withdrawal of my presidential candidature,» the politician revealed in an open letter published today.

Urrubarri thus referred to the statements made last week by CFK, where she called for some candidates for high posts to show «humility» and step out of the running.

«I belong to this project and I will keep working from wherever I am needed. This is the project which allowed me to govern my province and be re-elected with 57 percent of the votes; that was possible because first Néstor Kirchner and then Cristina Fernández de Kirchner made the political decisions that allowed us this transformation.

There are still several hopefuls for the FpV presidential ticket, with Buenos Aires governor Daniel Scioli and Transport and Interior minister Florencio Randazzo the current front-runners in polling.
