Gov’t denies embassy accounts were confiscated in Belgium

The Economy Ministry has released a statement denying that two Argentine embassy accounts were confiscated in Belgium following a request by NML Capital hedge fund.

The so called “vulture fund” is suing Argentina over its defaulted bonds more than a decade ago.

The Ministry argued “vultures” tried to “extort Argentina” hiring a court officer (a private activity in Belgium) to freeze embassy funds, but affirmed the Argentine government has not yet been officially informed of such block becoming effective.
