‘Blue’ dollar drops to 12.55 pesos

The “blue” illegal dollar rate today fell three cents to close at 12.55 pesos in underground exchange houses, ambito.com reported, continuing a downward trend at the start of May while cutting back heavier losses earlier in trading.

The parallel currency had dropped nine cents yesterday to end at 12.61 pesos pushed down by the so called saving dollar which is usually highly demanded by people at the beginning of each month.

Meanwhile, the official dollar rate closed half a cent higher at 8.93 pesos in banks and foreign exchange agencies of the city. The Central Bank was forced to sell 50 million dollars on the markets in order to stem further rises.
