The so called “blue” dollar soared in prices during today’s trading, rising 19 cents to reach 12.71 pesos. The gap therefore increased drastically between the parallel and official currencies, widening to 43.1 percent.
Yesterday, greenbacks in the informal market jumped 10 cents closing at 12.52 pesos. The parallel rate of the American currency has not showed such trends in over a month.
On March 12, it jumped from 12.82 pesos to 12.92 pesos reaching a higher mark only in February 20 when it climbed to 13.02 pesos.
Meanwhile, in Buenos Aires City banks and foreign exchange offices, the US dollar was climbing half a cent up to 8.875 pesos amid Central Bank controls to keep it steady.
