The Federal Criminal Appeals Court has rejected a presentation by Foreign Minister Héctor Timerman challenging Prosecutor Germán Moldes in the case investigating the alleged cover-up of Iran’s involvement in the AMIA bombing.
Judges Eduardo Freiler, Eduardo Farah and Jorge Ballestero confirmed the ruling today with the tribunal now having to decide if it gives Moldes a green light to take Alberto Nisman’s complaint against the government to the Cassation Court.
Back in January, AMIA special prosecutor Alberto Nisman filed a complaint against President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner and top government officials saying they were planning to cover up Iran’s alleged role in the 1994 bombing of the AMIA Jewish community center that killed 85 people as part of a trade exchange that would benefit both parties, Buenos Aires and Tehran.
A few days later, Nisman was found dead in his apartment with a gunshot to his head under yet unclear circumstance.
