According to the ADEFA car manufacturers association, car production in the country dropped 10 percent in March compared to the same month last year.
Exports also decreased (-0.8%) while total production reached 52,316 units. Of those, 28,559 units were exported, mainly to Brazil.
Compared to February, production grew 14.7% and exports increased 17.9%.
ADEFA’s report indicates that the “negative tendency experienced [in car production] since the beginning of 2015” is reversing, and adds the drop is explained by Brazil’s economic contraction.
In late 2014, President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner sponsored a plan called Pro.Cre.Auto to help mitigate the car industry production crisis in the country.
