President unveils scheme to cancel AFIP arrears

President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner has announced a new plan to normalise the payment of tax arrears with the Federal Public Incomes Administration, whom the head of state asserted is owed more than 60 billion pesos in unpaid revenue.

During an act which also included the inauguration of several new credit schemes to boost consumption, CFK explained that the program would see debtors pay arrears «in 120 installments, at 1.9 percent interest,» while warning that «after this program’s inscription punitive interests will be more expensive than with banks.»

The president also made it clear that «businessmen who sack people» would not benefit from the financing plan.

«We are not going to refinance the arrears of any businessmen who sack people and do not maintain their workforce, that has been a rule in previous initiatives,» she explained, adding that a comparison between those employees contracted at the time of requesting refinancing and the number on the books at the end of 2014 would be made while evaluating the petition.

«If anyone fired workers and wants to enter, let them rehire those fired.»
