Berlocq advances to Miami 2nd round; Del Potro set for comeback

Argentine tennis star Carlos Berlocq booked his place in the second round of the Miami Masters with an accomplished victory over Thanasi Kokkinakis, who went down in three sets to set Charly up with Stanislas Wawrinka in the next match.

The promising Australian talent, ranked 108th in the world by the ATP, fell 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 to Berlocq, in an event which will welcome former US Open winner Juan Martín Del Potro back to the courts.

The Tandíl Tower debuts tomorrow with a clash against Canada’s Vasek Pospisil, having fallen as low as 611th in the world rankings due an injury-interrupted 2014. His prize should he down Pospisil will be a meeting with ninth seed Grigor Dimitrov, of Bulgaria.

Juan Mónaco and Diego Schwartzman, meanwhile, will play their first matches in Miami later today. ‘Pico’ faces Ruben Bemelmans, while Schwartzman takes on Austrian Dominic Thiem.
