MercadoLibre, the market leader in e-commerce in Latin America, has opened its new offices located in the Al Río complex, in the Vicente López district, which will house more than 300 employees. The company also went over the key figures of its business and announced free advertising for used goods without any restrictions, with all the financing and logistical benefits of MercadoLibre.

As part of the growth the company has enjoyed in the last few years, MercadoLibre has decided to expand operations in Argentina with the acquisition of three floors in the Torre Al Río I building, a new workplace for more than 300 employees within a space of 3,918 m2. The investment totals over 35 million dollars.
The new offices mark the fifth property development made by MercadoLibre, alongside offices in Saavedra which will become a Software Development Centre, the Customer Service Centre in Costa Salguero and the two software development offices in San Luis and Córdoba provinces.
Open Plan Offices: With the goal of boosting the young organisational culture of MercadoLibre based on teamwork and with a strong focus of open-door communications, the design of the new offices continues the legacy of predecessors and presents a physical space of open doors at every level.
Technology in an integrated environment: In order to assure optimal comfort the facilities are also equipped with common areas; 12 meeting rooms with advanced videoconference systems, eight office for receiving visitors with projection screens and four phone booths to take individual calls, as well as comfortable, integrated receptions and kitchens and other benefits for collaborators and visitors.
Sustainability for less environmental impact: The offices’ planning and construction adhere to regulations outlined by the complex in order to meet US Green Building Council requirements, with the respective Leed Core & Shell, aligning with the latest world trends in sustainable construction.
As part of the announcements presented and with the goal of strengthening benefits for platform users, MercadoLibre will introduce from March onwards the elimination of costs associated with the selling of used products. The measure allows sellers to access multiple benefits such as access to financing and different payment methods with MercadoPago and home delivery services or pick-up from OCA branches across the country, with MercadoEnvíos.
Principal Economic Results in 2014:
• 121 millon registered users in MercadoLibre across 2014, a growth of 18 % compared to the previous year.
• 101 millon products sold via MercadoLibre in the last year, an increase of 22% on 2013, resulting in a total product volume worth 7.1 billion dollars.
• 46 millon operations carried out using MercadoPago, up 47% compared to the previous year. The total volume of payment in 2014 reached 3.5 billion dollars.
• Nett sales for 2014 reached 556.5 million dollars, an increase of 18% over 2013.
• Total nett profits over the year were 72.7 million dollars, or 1.63 dollars per transaction. Excluding the effect of devalution inn Venezuela, nett profits would have been 127.4 million dollars, rising 8.4% percent on the previous year.
