The US dollar advanced half a cent to close at 8.80 pesos today in Buenos Aires City banks and foreign exchange offices.
The Central Bank sold 40 million dollars to avoid further rate hikes. Yesterday, it had bought u$s 190 millions in view of the increased foreign currency income.
Meanwhile, the informal rate of the US currency, the so-called «blue» dollar, traded one cent down to close at 12.88 pesos, after having lost four cents earlier in the trading session.
The gap between the official and informal rates stands at 46.4%.
The blue-chip swap rate dropped nine cents and closed at 11.91 pesos while the stock-exchange rate lost 10 cents to trade at 12.14 pesos.
