BA City teachers reject wage offer, talks in recess

A new round of salary negotiations between BA City teachers and local authorities has failed again. Press Secretary of the UTE education union Mariano Denegris told the ámbito.com news website that the offer made by Education Ministry commanded by Esteban Bullrich has been rejected. The meeting was now in recess till 1 pm.
According to Denegris, City’s authorities offered a wage hike of «28-30 percent» that teachers rejected considering the administration of Mayor Mauricio Macri was “incoherent” in its position, considering inflation is currently at «34.3 percent.”
“We can not go to teachers with this offer,” the UTE member affirmed and pointed out that education unions in the province of Buenos Aires have reached an increase of 35 percent.
