Supermarket sales went up 37.4 percent in 2014 compared to the year before, while shopping center sales increased 32.5% in the same period, according to a report published by the INDEC national statistics bureau.
Supermarket earnings totalled 20.6 billion pesos in December 2014, a figure 19.4% higher than November.
Meanwhile, shopping center earning s were 4.5 billion pesos in December 2014, 56.8% more than the previous month.
The Government had set forward a series of measures to boost consumption during 2014.
The provinces that registered the highest increases during the period January-November 2014 were: Neuquén (46.9%), Chubut (44.7%), Entre Ríos (43.2%), Other Northern provinces (42.4%) and 24 municipalities of the Buenos Aires province (40.8%).
Electronics and home goods (62.9%), warehouse goods (40.3%), cleaning, perfume and clothing goods (38.8%) and dairy products (36.8%) were among the products that increased its sales the most, during the same period.
