‘Blue’ dollar drops 5 cents to 13.65 pesos

The parallel ‘blue’ US dollar dropped five cents today, falling back to 13.65 pesos in unofficial exchange outlets in Buenos Aires City. The move erases much of the gains made yesterday, when the ‘blue’ jumped 11 cents at the start of the week.

The US dollar closed half a cent up at 8.625 pesos today in Buenos Aires City banks and foreign exchange offices, after a one-cent climb yesterday. To stop the currency rising further, the Central Bank sold US$30 million of reserves.

Meanwhile, the blue-chip swap rate advanced seven cents to 12.48 pesos. The stock exchange dollar dropped, falling 10 cents to 12.55 pesos.
