The long-awaited match-up between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather could finally take place in the middle of 2015, after the Phillippines boxer’s promoters confirmed that he had accepted the terms for a fight with the undisputed Welterweight boxing world champion.
Mayweather’s last two fights were against Argentine Marcos Maidana, both won on points by the defending champion.
Top Rank vice-president Carl Moretti affirmed that ‘Pacman’ would take on the US boxer, widely recognised as the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world.
«Top Rank and Manny have agreed to the terms on our side. I don’t know about the other side,» Moretti said to ESPN.
Nobody from Mayweather’s camp could be reached for comment.
According to sources consulted by the US television station, the deal would see Pacquiao take 40 percent of the total revenue, leaving Mayweather with the majority. If the fight is finalized, it would take place May 2 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Moretti said.
Mayweather has had his past 10 fights there, and Pacquiao has had five of his past seven bouts there.
