San Lorenzo fans pack airport for Morocco flight

Copa Libertadores champions San Lorenzo were today greeted by hundreds of cheering fans at Ezeiza airport, from where the team took off for Morocco in order to dispute the 2014 Club World Cup.

Close to 1000 supporters made their way to the airport to see off Edgardo Bauza’s men, who left Argentine soil around 2.30 pm. The Cuervo plane will make a brief stopover in Spain, before landing in Marrakesh tomorrow.

San Lorenzo will next week play the Club World Cup for the first time ever, after beating Paraguay’s Nacional to pick up their maiden Libertadores trophy in August. Should the Argentines take a victory in their opening clash, a final tie against giants Real Madrid looms in the tournament’s showpiece fixture.

«We are already beginning to feel something that is really exciting. It is amazing,» coach Bauza admitted to reporters, just minutes before taking off.
