Labour Ministry Carlos Tomada ordered mandatory conciliation in response to the strike called by the Bank Association in Banco Nación, Caja de Tucumán and the Central Bank, as Cabinet Chief Jorge Capitanich had announced earlier.
The bank workers union had announced a 48-hour strike in all public financial institutions yesterday to demand the payment of a end-year bonus of 7,500 pesos which private banks have already agreed upon. However, in the afternoon, the union said that the strike would only contemplate the three banks that haven’t signed the bonus agreement.
“The mandatory conciliation will be ordered immediately and the parties (in the conflict) will be summoned,” the chief of ministers said in his daily press briefing at the government house.
