La Boca ‘motochorro’ out of jail as he awaits trial

Gastón Aguirre, the man who rose to fame after attempting to rob at gunpoint the backpack of a Canadian tourist in La Boca while being filmed, will remain out of prison as he awaits trial, according to the National Criminal Courthouse.

For the attack against tourist Alex Hennessy, Aguirre faces charges of attempted aggravated theft but he was released before he stands trial because the Courthouse considered there was no evidence to consider him a flight risk.

The 33-year-old man, also known as “El Conejo”, has served two months for illegal drug possession and was released due to “lack of evidence” after being detained in October for resisting authority, during a rally in La Boca to protest against the murder of a 15-year-old boy.
