The ruling Victory Front has succeeded in its intention to bring forward the implementation of the new Civil Code. The amendments to the law were first meant to become effective on January 1, 2016, but the project passed by a Senate committee would move it forward to August 1, 2015, just before the presidential elections.
FpV senator Aníbal Fernández, one of the authors of the initiative, highlighted specific rights contemplated in the new Code and argued “we could benefit from it earlier” if we move the date forward in the calendar.
