Tango popular idol Cacho Castaña, who remains hospitalized since October 15, underwent a new surgery due to a hip dislocation, his personal physician Alfredo Cahe told reporters. The procedure was successful but the patient remains critical.
“We had to operate on him because his hip had dislocated. Everything went very well. The surgery was a success,” Cahe said. The physician explained that the dislocation was a result of Castaña’s prolonged bed rest.
“His condition remains delicate, that is why he remains in the intensive care unit despite the fact that he has woken up,” Cahe added.
The 72-year old singer and song-writer underwent a previous hip surgery last month for a fracture he suffered in a domestic accident. Due to a respiratory infection that complicated Castaña’s postoperative, he underwent a tracheotomy on Novemeber 17 to help him breath.
At the time he was admitted to the hospital, Castaña was still recovering from a spinal cord operation.
